August Team 2017
I’m Greta, a 26 years old girl from Pordenone, a little city in the north east of Italy. I finished my masters degree in political science in 2016 and, during the last year, I traveled in Europe working in Amsterdam and then volunteering in Athens in a refugee camp.
From a young age I’m really sensitive to the environmental issues and, like my studies attest, my first focus is on the international relations and cooperation and their linkage to the human rights. When I found this program I thought that was a perfect linkage between these interests.
This school introduces you into a new kind of lifestyle and gives you the opportunity to take action and be part of the “changement”.
I'm Sara Simson,
I'm 24 years old. I attended a high school where I had to study psychology, pedagogy, and sociology.
During high school, I discovered my passion for the theater and when I finished the school I attended a theater academy for 3 years.
After this, I decided to seek something different, because I needed to get involved in another kind of work and experience. I decided to attend this program because it was a challenge and an opportunity to take on a different life. I have found this program on the internet and I love it so much because it's really interesting. I hope to do something for the others and I would like to be useful. I always hoped I could do a similar experience.
And now for the first time, I can do it. I know it will be a training experience because we will live, study, and face the challenges together.
Here I have the chance to meet different people, with different habits and different opinions, and I have the opportunity to live a concrete life and learn something new.
This opportunity will change my life completely. It will be hard and difficult but satisfying and I hope that I can do this project in the best way.
¡¡Buenas!! My name is Rodri.
I´m from Spain I am 28 years old and I always believe that education is the strongest force to make an important change, but not any education, I believe in an emotional, social and human education as a motor to make a change.
I think that we live in a world where the material things have a lot of importance and we normally forget the importance of the human relationships and the relationships with ourselves.
Even though I know I will never see the world as I would like to, I really want to give my little and humble contribution to building, hopefully in the near future, a world where everyone can have their own lives, being able to have an education that could give them the necessary tools to be able to interact effectively with themselves and with others.
For that, I am here because I believe in change and I want to be a piece of that change.
I am Iria, a citizen of the World!
I am quite a simple person who tries to give always my best, not only for me but also for the others! I believe in mutual respect and that we need not only to accept ourselves how we are but also accept the others how they are, not judging.
I choose this program because I think this is really “Another kind of School”, I believe here we are treated as we are, all different from each other, with different ways to see the world and different ideas but with a goal in common and working together for it. Step by step we can create a better World. I came to meet new people, to work in a community, to be with different kids, teach and learn from them, to travel, to visit new places, to understand other people, to learn other languages, to take and bring experiences from and to people, to make the difference!

Hi, my name is Pía Aliste,
I am from Chile and I am 19 years old. I have always been part of different volunteering teams and I love being able to help people and contribute to a better society. I finished school a year ago, and I wanted to do this immediately, because I believe we must act now to help those who need it and we have to get out of the reality to which we are accustomed to know different environments.
There are many things that I like too much: acting, dancing, writing, and reading. I love the art, to paint, travel, to know new places, meeting people. Also are very important for me the animals, all of them, because I am vegetarian and I like care about them. I also really like to spend my time outdoors, in nature. One of my favorite hobbies are movies, and learning about them, because I love theater.
Maybe I can help in my country or in any other country, but I think that the preparation in Denmark will be very good, and that the people of Africa need a lot of help or just to give them simple things that make them happy. Besides, I think it's not just about teaching them, but we should learn from them, value them and help them with long-term solutions.
Hello, my name is Taeyang.
Taeyang means ‘Sun’ in Korean, so I’m called ‘Sunny’ in English. I’m 27 years old. There are a lot of reasons why I choose this program. First of all, I always hope be a useful person and make the world better than present.
So when I found this program, I thought I could use my knowledge and experience for many activities in this program.
I also want to get new knowledge about other cultures, people and how they think. Specifically I’m interested in Human Rights, through this program I want to study about how to keep the poor’s right.
Hello! My name is Ellu-Marie,
I am 19 years old and I come from Estonia. I love art, literature, sweets but mostly learning. As I finished my high school I came straight to the One World Center. As I knew I couldn't make a decision about what to do in my life, I had planned to come here.
I learned about this program a few years ago and decided this is the place where I want to actually learn about the world and the people living here.
I want to find what I could do, to be useful for others, or just help someone in anyway that I can. My plan is to learn as much as possible, from everyone, anywhere, from anything and to see if I could be useful and later in life if I could become an interesting and good teacher.
Hi, I am Mihaela I believe that the world is too big and interesting to live only in one place, to have an ordinary life. I am sorry that I realised that at 26 years old, but I knew that I had this in my heart all the time but it was hard to express myself. I believe in people, I love to be surrounded by happiness and kindness.
I choose this program because One World Center is an organization without borders, that respect other cultures, that teaches about people's needs and after that serve them, and I want to be a part of that. Here you can make new friends, maybe for a lifetime, you can learn, teach, have fun or travel around the world.
These are the things I need now, simple things that can make me happy.
Hi, my name is Silvia,
I’m 40 and I come from Italy. I’m a psychologist and in my country, I work with children with special needs. Now I feel the need to open my mind to new knowledge, new experiences, and new people.
I’m sure that this program can help me to improve my self, to understand there are several ways to solve the problems, and to be more useful to the next.
Hey! I’m Javi J
I was born in Chile. I came to One World Center to do the Pedagogy and Fighting with the Poor programme because I want to gain a better understanding of the world that we live in, in order to clear up my role in it.
I have a degree in education and I understand, to some point, the impact of education in the life of a person.
What I have yet to figure out is what kind of education would be the best for the superior interest of young human beings and our world 😀
My name is Serhat. I completed the second year of my bachelor degree in German Studies. I am part of 2017 August team studying Fighting with Poor and Pedagogy.
Before this program, I participated in some volunteering projects in Czech Republic, Germany, and Romania. With this program I believe that I will get a unique experience, living, working, volunteering, travelling... Being a part of Denmark and Africa, creating projects with my team against the poverty.
I will remember amazing memories we create as I continue to do something for a better world for everyone.
Hi! I’m Alessio from Italy,
30 years old, Vegan from 3 years ago.
One year ago, I was involved in an EVS project in Romania, working in the schools of the villages in rural areas, I was already an activist for animal and human rights and this experience opened my mind to the education.
I studied at the Fine Art Academy, painting class, so, I’m an underground and graphic artist, my first passion is art, especially street art, fitness and cooking.
I think that the food can be a metaphor, in every part of the world we have almost the same ingredients and with them we can cook unlimited and different dishes that everybody can enjoy.
So, the ingredients are our soul, our brain, our blood, our bones, our feelings, our heart… WE, and we can choose how build our planet and our future, without borders, discrimination and poverty.
For this reason, I’m here in DRH Lindersvold in the August Team 2017 with amazing people and teacher, with the desire to grow, learn and do my best studying and working in Pedagogy and Fighting With the Poor.
