Thoughts on War
When thinking about the war, the media usually focuses their efforts in covering the problems that are happening during this war. Few people are willing to go further and think about the possible solutions to finish with it.
Apart from the reasons hidden by countries to go for a war, we need to think about thepersonal reasons that too many people could have to participate in it. If I compare this with a song, I think about Neil Young’s “Heart of gold”. I choose it because everybody, in their own wayis looking for their heart of gold, the way to give and live for their aim in life - their heart of gold.
Depending on how you spend your life, with who, where, how… your aim will be a different war and your way to deal with problems will be one or another. I guess this could be also applied to countries in the world, who keep seeking for something, usually control over the rest. Many times, the easiest solution to have the control is to go to war, but obviously, it is not the best one if we think about the damage it can cause in the rest of the world.
As politicians are guided by their country’s economy, they usually don’t think of the population, but about how much money they can gain from the war.
A good solution before creating a war could be (before starting it), to ask the population. If we live in a real democracy, it means to ask all the population of the country about how they would like to intervene in a possible conflict with another country. That could be a good start for peace, counting on ALL the population to aim to create the peace before a war instead of fighting against the others.
But peace starts by ourselves, in our homes, organizations, environment, with our friends or colleagues at work. It cannot be only practiced by our Governments, but in the society, in general. Everybody needs to show the
rest we can practice peace and show examples.
